Silver Jubilee Celebrations – 2008
The untiring service rendered by Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI) in Ujire, Dharmasthala in providing self employment oriented training programmes to unemployed youths since 25 years has caught the attention of Central Government and has become a replicable model. The success of RUDSETI has inspired the Central Government to start more than 500 institutes on the lines of RUDSETI. Announcing this, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development Dr. Rita Sharma said that out of the 500 plus institutes, about 250 would be functional in the current year and all the institutes would retain the character of the original RUDSETI. She also said that the Planning Commission had approved a grant of Rs. 1 Crore to these RUDSETI type institutes.
She was speaking at the Silver Jubilee celebrations of RUDSETI and the establishment of a National Academy of RUDSETI at Bangalore on 18.12.08. The newly opened National Academy of RUDSETI shall try to inculcate the values & culture of RUDSETI training to the Directors of RUDSETI type institutes to be opened in the days to come, she remarked.
Mrs. Usha Thorat, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai while delivering the key note address, applauded the objectives and efforts of RUDSETI in addressing the problem of unemployment and advised RUDSETI to adopt new techniques in the methodology and also in conducting new training programmes to become more effective in future.
Presiding over the function, Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, President of RUDSET Institutes said, “the decision of Central Government to replicate the RUDSETI model and establishment of 500 plus RUDSETI type institutes across the country has made RUDSETI very proud and it is a rare honour to RUDSETI. To mark the Celebration of Silver Jubilee of RUDSETI, Board of Governors conceived the idea of starting apex level training institute named NATIONAL ACADEMY OF RUDSETI to work as a national level resource organization for RUDSETI type institutes, to conduct research and development work in the field of Entrepreneurship Development and to design and conduct training programmes and undertake projects in the field of enterprise promotion, Rural Development and HRD in future” he said.

In all, 42 successful entrepreneurs who received training in various RUDSETI units across the country and who made tremendous progress in their ventures were honoured on the occasion. Few successful entrepreneurs who received awards spoke on the occasion.
Top Executives from different Banks and Government Departments, thousands of past trainees & well-wishers of RUDSETIs from all walks of life enthusiastically participated in the programme. THE PROGRAMME WAS A GRAND SUCCESS.
